SISTER GOLIGHTLY 08/16/21

Hey y'all! This week was a long week! We had transfers and Sister Watson left Stone Mountain(so sad). I am still in Stone Mountain and my new companion is Sister Golightly. She is from Utah, originally called to Chile, we both came out together, this is her first Spanish area and she loves Dr. Pepper (a lot). It has been a wack adjustment to getting a new companion and leading the area again but it has been good. Since she has only been in an English area I have been leading/doing almost everything in Spanish.

At the transfer meeting Sister Watson and I wore our matching dressing (thanks mom lol) and everyone thought it was so funny! A pic is below!

Carla! Sister Watson and I had a lesson with Carla on Tuesday about the Law of Chastity and the Word of Wisdom and it went really well! We told Carla that as she goes off of coffee we will go off of sugar!(something that we love) to help support her as she prepares for baptism. Carla is so awesome she has such a strong desire to change her life and follow Christ! So keep her in your prayers as she prepares! (and me because we will see how I am without candy or treats lol)

We have been able to find 4 new people this week which is good! One experience was on Thursday night. We went to go visit a lady who requested a Bible but she gave us a fake address (gotta love that) so with the free time gap we had we decided to look on area book, an address book, to see who lives near by that we could visit. As we were looking at a list of people I felt the impression we should go visit a man named Grover. It was interesting because I have never seen his name before in our area. We went to go stop by his house and he was so excited to see us! He came outside and we talked for about an hour. We asked if we could return and share another message and he said yes. It was a really cool experience for both Sister Golightly and I!

Also please keep Adam in your prayers! He is going through some hard health problems :(

The Atonement 08/02/21

Hey y'all! I hope this past week was good for you! This week was filled with lots of things for me! We had a lesson with our friend Carla this week again and she is officially on date for baptism! We are so excited for her. One of the best things you see as a missionary is the lives of people having a whole 360 because of their desire to change and follow Christ!

We visited a few less active members this week! One was Hermana Serpa (STORY TIME) Hermana Ramirez told us about her and so us 3 went over and visited with her. She is a little old lady from Cuba and talks way fast Sister Watson and I could barely understand! (Good this Hermana Ramirez was there) This week was our week to go to the Centerville ward and while we were greeting people, Hermana Serpa and her granddaughter walked in! We were SO SURPRISED! One reason is because its the English ward and two is because we didn't know! She brought her granddaughter and she told us that they would go to this ward when her granddaughter was younger! Hermana Serpa doesn't speak any English though so were were a little shocked. She loved it though and after so many people came up and and said hi! She told us after sacrament how she needs to have us over for dinner to make us Cuban food and that next Sunday she will be at the Stone Mountain Ward!

We also went and visited Hermana Gonzales, she is the sweetest lady. She told us some people she knows from the Stone Mountain Ward and this next week we are going over with Hermana Castillo(a member who she knows well) Hermana Castillo was SO HAPPY when we told her about Hermana Gonzales! We think it will be really good!

This week we had the opportunity to find a new person! We gets lots of referrals every day but usually are for English class so we will tell them about our group class. We were stoked when we saw that a man, Luis wanted to learn about the church. We gave him a call to get to know him and he is super cool. He has been through a lot in his life but he wants a change for himself and for his family. When we were talking with him we ended with sharing a scripture in Isaiah 53:3-5;

"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed"

This scripture is so powerful to me. Jesus Christ was rejected, despised, felt grief and pain, betrayed, wounded and died on the cross for each and every one of us, because he loves us. He knows how we feel when we are low and he knows how to carry us. He also knows how we feel when we are filled with joy and happiness. He gave his life so we can have eternal life and repent daily. A perfect man gave his life for imperfect people. I know that Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ love us all so much. I know that there isn't anything that can stop Their love from us. I hope that you all will continue to put Christ first in your lives and allow his atonement to heal! I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week!!

Love, Sister Worley

SOPES 07/26/21

This week felt like a life time! There was lots of things that happened...One of which, is that I found out what my favorite Mexican food is...SOPES! They are so good. The Ramirez gamily fed us them for dinner on Monday night and hmmmm so good:)

We had Zone Conference on Tuesday and the topic of it was having faith to see miracles. I always learn so much from Zone Conferences. One of the pre-work assignments for the Conference was reading "Christ is Risen; Faith in Him Will Move Mountains" by Russell M. Nelson. A quote that really stood out to me was "the Lord does not require perfect faith for us to have access to his perfect power" We all struggle and doubts come, but it gives me so much peace knowing that my faith doesn't have to be perfect to receive his help in my life. Jesus Christ is always going to be our strength and help us if we exercise our faith. Even if it is just a particle!

Dion! We got a referral this week whose name was Dion and he is awesome. We gave him a call then stopped by to drop off a Book of Mormon (his request) We started talking and he expressed his desire to come closer to Christ. We taught him about the Book of Mormon and the whole time his face was lit up and smiling. Sister Watson and I are pumped to have a lesson with him.

Carla! This past week we taught Carla about Baptism and invited her to pray about a baptism date. We are super excited for Carla!

GAME POINT 07/19/21

Happy P-DAY everyone!!! This past week a goal we had is growing our member relationships and helping the families in any way we can. We have seen SO many blessings and little miracles from it!

On Friday we were at a funeral for a member and there was a lot of people that came. The elders told us how there is a lady that we should talk to that was there, so we were waiting for the right time to go up but we lost her. We decided to take a lap around the church so we could bump into her and we found her playing the piano. We started to talk to her and she really opened up. She is only 24 but has gone through a lot of hard things in her life. She asked for our numbers and we plan on going to visit her this coming week!

The Ramirez family! They are SO AWESOME! Last week we dropped off cookies and their containers (every time we visit they send us home with food) and she mentioned that there is a sister in the ward that we should visit with her. We were super shocked Hermana Ramirez gave us a referral but we are so excited to go visit! Sister Watson is giving a talk this Sunday so we hope that they will all come to church with us!

Saturday night we went to a Sports night with the Stone Mountain Ward and it was a lot of fun. We played volleyball and soccer! Half way through volleyball we switched to soccer and let me tell ya, I can not kick a soccer ball😂 Everyone was dying of laughter at me but hey at the end I made the game point! It was a lot of fun getting to create closer relationships with the Spanish Ward.

I hope that you all have had a good week as well and that you have been able to feel God's love in your life! I love you all and am always here if ya'll need anything!

Todo en Español 07/12/21

Hey everyone! This week was a good one! To start off, I thought I would explain the subject. Sister Watson and I are really trying to set up our Spanish and so this past week we came up with a game. Everyday from 9am-9pm we only speak Spanish! (With the exception of having 5 "lives" or first asking for permission to use English) By the end of the night if either of us breaks Speaking in Spanish more than 5 times then other gets to pick what they have to drink blended up. My idea was whoever wins get something good, yet Sister Watson said how it has to be whoever looses so it pushes us. Neither of us have had to drink anything yet so  'm crossing my fingers!

On another note, we had the opportunity to go to "Quest" It is similar to a Trek experience in a sense. All of the kids in the stake get to go camping and experience living the Book of Mormon! They are put into families and the Stake leads it. They re-enact the Book of Mormon, and talk about stories, do fun activities, and have a spiritual week. Our Stake leaders asked the missionaries serving in this area to attend and surprise the youth at the camp! President and Sister Needs attended as well and talked to all the youth about the importance of missionary work and sharing the Gospel! It was an awesome experience that I wont forget.

We were invited to a birthday party for a couple's daughter we are teaching in the English classes! The party was located at the very bottom of our area so it was fun to see a new environment! We had the opportunity to talk with so many people about our purpose as missionaries, and some people were interested in learning English too, so we got to meet new people!

On Thursday we visited the Ramirez family. They are an inactive church family that went to both our English ward (Centerville) and our Spanish ward (Stone Mountain). They are my favorite family. We have visited them three times and every time Hermana Ramirez makes us dinner or snacks. This past time, we talked about prayer. We shared Alma 37:36-37, we asked Hermana Ramirez to read it for us and half way through she stopped and started to cry. She told us how this scripture has always been her favorite scripture since she was a little girl. The Spirit was so strong and the lesson went really well. Both Hermana and Hermano Ramirez have strong testimonies of Christ and every time I leave learn something new from the Spirit!
