Exchanges 05/31/21

Thursday night we had exchanges!!! Sister Cox (one of the sister training leaders(STL)) came to me in Centerville and Sister Anderson went to Covington to stay with Sister Tracy. Our mission is just now starting overnight exchanges again. This is when the STLs split up and spend the night and day with other sisters in the Zone to see how every thing is going. Sister Cox is super cool and we had the opportunity to help a member in her garden! Let me tell y'all, Georgia humidity is no joke! Once we were done I felt like I just got done running a marathon! (which no I haven't ran;))

This week we had the opportunity to do lots of service and participate in teaching English classes! Our Bishop in the Spanish ward is moving houses and we have been helping them pack and take trips to their new house. We went over on two different days to help and we spent a lot of time there! Our English classes are every Saturday and they are usually packed full with students. People can come in person or we do a zoom! Typically the Bishop's wife teaches the English classes, but due to her moving boxes, Hermana Anderson and I got to teach!! I love teaching English because every time I learn more Spanish. In Georgia there is a wide variety of Spanish speakers so it has been interesting to hear different types of Spanish dialect!

One thing that I have learned from serving a mission s how important the little things are that we do in life! It is such a big blessing we have to be able to pray! So many people don't know how or understand that it is a way we have to talk to Heavenly Father. As a missionary, you pray before everything you do and I have felt an immense amount of love from Heavenly Father when I do. I know that prayer is such a powerful tool we have! I encourage you all to pray daily and I know that if you will, you will be blessed with His spirit! I love you all so much and hope you know how important each of you are! Have a great week!

ALSO HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! I am so grateful for the ability I have to live in a free land and for all of the Men and Women who gave their life for me! I hope you all celebrate and give thanks to our veterans!!

Faith 05/24/21

Hey hey everyone!!! This week a few things have changed in our area! We had transfers this past Wednesday, I am still with Sister Anderson (she is training me) but one of the sisters we share an apartment with (Sister Rowley) left. It was weird saying bye but now Sister Saunders is here and she is super cool! She is now Sister McAllisters new companion.

We also had some changes with our District! Our District got split up:( but Sister Anderson and I are still with our original District leaders! The mission opened a new Spanish area for sisters and they will be in our District with the Leaders so... we are now a SPANISH DISTRICT! Whoop whoop! We had our weekly calls with the District Leaders yesterday and they were talking in Spanish. We were so confused. Then they said how everything is now in Spanish and we were like uhhhhh! Lol be careful what you wish for! JKJK it will be good.

This week we met with Janaya and Tre again and they doing amazing. We taught them about eternal families and temples and they loved it. We also had another lesson with Trina!!! We taught her about the restoration with Joseph Smith and at the end SHE STARTED sharing her testimony about it! Trina is so sweet and we love talking with her.

For this new transfer I made a goal to be more Christ like. Every week I am studying a new attribute and this week I studied faith! A scripture that I absolutely love is in Ether 12:6
6. And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because e see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.
I love this because Faith is something that we wont have a witness of until AFTER the trial of our faith. It is not something that we can see but is something that we hope for. I know that as we all have faith in Christ we will be strengthened beyond measure. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are always with us and we can receive help as we exercise faith and pray!

P.S. CONGRATS TO MARIAH AND NATE!!! I am now an aunt to the cutest boy ever!!!!!

Talents 05/17/21

Hey everyone!!! I hope you all have been doing great! For me this week wasn't too crazy, sadly. We had quite a few people reschedule lessons for this coming week or canceled. On Sunday we attended the Spanish ward and three of our friends came!! Trina came and loved it! We met her about two weeks ago. She was a referral from some sisters in Mexico! She is older and the sweetest lady ever! She asked for us to bring her a large printed Book of Mormon. At the end of church one of the members was trying to find her to take her home. We looked and found her sitting on the couches on the other side of the building reading the Book of Mormon! She said she was wondering where everyone was and we told her that she is on the other side of the building, oh man she was dying of laughter! Our other friends Eswin and and his daughter Rosibel came! At the end of Primary Rosibel came up and was so excited telling us all about it, it was so cute!

Also, Hermana Anderson and I got our second Covid vaccine on Thursday. Luckily she didn't have any side affect, but wow was I dead! Ya know what they say tho, missionary work doesn't stop haha! We ended up having the ability to schedule our lessons around Friday so we didn't have to leave just in case which I am so glad!

Last night we had the opportunity to go to stake mission prep and it was a talent show! The teacher asked everyone to come with a talent to share. The purpose is to share something and connect it to missionary work. It took me a big long minute to try to think of something to share, but I ended up explaining how I love to play volleyball. I expressed how I have had the opportunity to talk to members and some of our friends that we teach who also play volleyball, and connect with them. I want to invite you all this week to use your talents to bless and help those around you! By making cards, baking, helping someone with yard work, or even just visiting with someone who could use a friend(use ur talents:))! I know that God will bless you as you strive to serve others with your talents! I love you all and appreciate the kind emails I receive throughout the week!:)

See Others by Their Heart 05/10/21

Hey hey hey everyone:) It has been a great week in Atlanta! We have been staying really busy. We have met and started teaching one new lady named Trina about the Gospel! We also have been having lots of English classes. They are every Saturday and the bishops wife teaches the class. Although, many people can't make it so we teach over zoom on other days for individual classes. We had a individual one this week with a lady and her husband and after she said she would love to have us over for dinner to make us "authentic Mexican food" and we are excited haha!

Two of our friends that we teach are Janaya and Tre. We have been meeting with them since I got here and they are so amazing! They are both around 21 years old and they have loved learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This past week we asked if they would like to be baptized and they said yes! They are super excited for this next month to be baptized. They have loved coming to church on Sunday with us and we have gotten close with them. This past week they texted us saying how they want to take us to the mall on a Preparation Day(PDAY) to show us around!!! So I am pretty stoked to do that one of these Mondays!

On Saturday our Spanish Ward had a Mothers Day activity and Hermana Anderson and I got to go!!! It was seriously probably one of the highlights of my week! All of the moms came and food was served and they had dessert and we got to just hang out and talk. Even tho I am still getting to know all of them it was the best. All of the women are so funny and loving! It was from four to eight so it was a chunk of the day. (Sidenote: I hope all you moms/ women had a good day💜)

Hermana Anderson and I came up with the idea to write mothers day cards to Sister Needs and all of the senior sisters serving in ALT Mission! It was a lot of fun! We had to make and decorate six different cards which doesn't seem like a lot but when it was three days before mothers day it was!

Every week we have a call with our District leaders to talk about our week and to share something we have learned about discipleship. This week I shared 1 Samuel 16:7.
7.But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
I think to be a true disciple we must learn to see people from the heart. I know it is something everyone has to work on but it is so important. As I went through this week I truly tried to see people from the heart as Christ does and I noticed a change in my attitude. I want to invite everyone to try to see every person they come across from the heart this week. I can promise that as you all do this, you will have greater joy and love for every person. I love you all and thank you for the sweet emails you send me during the week:)

Hermana Worley Wears the Pants 05/03/2021

Hola mis amigos!!!! The subject for this weeks email may be confusing but Hermana Anderson decided this week that "Hermana Worley wears the pants from here on out" lol! She is having me answer/take calls and lead the lessons in Spanish!! Makes me nervous but I have liked it because helps me practice a lot!!

On Friday there was a 4th week missionary training and we got to go to Peachtree city for the day! Peachtree city is where the mission office and everything is. Hermana Anderson and I got to see Hermana Pace and Hermana Champagne. Hermana Pace came out with Hermana Anderson and Hermana Champagne and I came out together!! It was so fun to talk to them and see how they are. It was also so fun to see President and Sister Needs for the day.

On Tuesday we had district council at the park. For training they had us go walk around the park for 1 hour and just talk to people. Hermana Anderson was like I was trained to use media to share the Gospel not randomly talk to people. I was like why are you nervous? They are just people!! So we got to talk to a lot of people and compliment them on stuff. I thought it was so much fun hahah!

ADAM!! We got to meet with Adam again this week before church and have a lesson. He is so cool. Last Sunday we gave him a Book of Mormon and he told us during the lesson he is already 17 chapters in! He told us he wants to learn more and he has such a strong desire to be baptized.

This Sunday we attended the English-speaking ward (Centerville ward) and it was testimony meeting in church. This is when the pulpit is open for people in the congregation to get up and share their testimony of the Gospel During the meeting a little girl named Rose got up, she said something that really stuck out to me during her testimony. She said "I am not afraid of anything, except for a world without Jesus" This statement really hit home for me. There is so much that goes on in the world it can be stressful and scary, but there is no reason to fear because Christ is with all of us. I cant imagine my life without Christ in it. I know that life can be hard but there is no reason to fear. This life is a small moment compared to the big picture of eternity. I hope you all know that I am always here if you need anything!
